This trip includes a visit to the medieval Castle of Akershus and the Royal Palace of Oslo, and is available from 23rd June to 14th August.
The tour starts at the Royal Palace of Oslo, where the King and Queen live in a part of the palace, while a part is opened to the public in summer. There will be an English speaking guide there that will show you the stately rooms.
We then walk through the center of the city to the medieval Akershus castle. The castle and fortress contain buildings built by the Norwegian king Haakon the 5th in 1300, and has been added to and alterered by various kings in the course of history. On the tour of the castle you will see old offices and a school room, dungeons where famous criminals where held prisoners, the present royal mausoleum, the royal chapel, and the stately reception rooms now used by the Norwegian government, and hear about the ghosts residing in the castle.
The area around the castle offer beautiful views of Oslo and the fjord.
